Snow Throwers
Zuzda Tapas in Banner Elk played host to an organized snowball fight last Saturday.
If you have a team, mascots and a small army of winter warriors beside you, then let the snowfly.
On Saturday, Feb. 6, more than 40 children and adults drew a line in the snow outside the Zuzda Tapas in Banner Elk. They built battlements to protect their team mascot and then prepared their arsenals.
The red team had a stuffed doll monkey to protect, and the blue team had a frog. After a respectable match, the blue team captured the monkey and managed to throw a lot of snow.
The match was set up the previous week by placing a snowball fight date on Zuzda's Facebook page. It was a toss up, but around 4 p.m., cars began to roll into the parking lot. Some came to watch, while others had made themselves ready for the competition.
At the end of the day, no lasting injuries were reported, and Zuzda plans on hosting a rematch soon. Check Facebook.com to find out when.
