Renewable energy workshops offered at ASU
A series of workshops focusing on renewable energy will be held at Appalachian State University beginning in June.
The workshops are sponsored by Appalachian's Department of Technology and the W.N.C. Renewable Energy Initiative.
The first workshop focuses on photovoltaic system design and construction and will be offered on two consecutive weekends - June 4-6 and June 25-27. Registrants must attend both weekends to take the NABCEP Entry level PV exam, which will be offered June 27. The cost is $750 for non-students and $375 for students.
A workshop on solar domestic water heating will be held June 12. The workshop costs $150 for nonstudents and $75 for students.
A community-scale biodiesel production workshop will be held June 18-19. Cost is $300 for non-students and $150 for students.
A workshop on photovoltaics and the National Electrical Code will be offered Aug. 25. John Wiles from Southwest Technology Development Institute will lead the class. The cost is $150 for non-students and $75 for students.

Photovoltaic System Design and Construction - a two-weekend course Oct. 22-24 and Nov. 5-7
Photovoltaics with Sharp Solar - September (date to be determined)
