Regional artist project grant winners announced
The arts councils of Alleghany, Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes counties announced the winners of the 2011-2012 Regional Artist Project of Northwest North Carolina Grants Program.
Receiving grants this year are: Dan Abernathy (Alleghany), for camera purchase; Teresa Cerda (Watauga), for materials for painting project; Tyler Deal (Watauga), for camera purchase; Lynn Duryea (Watauga), for travel and residency support; Susan McLaurin (Watauga), for travel for photography project; Jon Moretz (Ashe), for building a metalworking studio; Pat Morrison (Ashe), for small kiln purchase; Rosa Powers (Watauga), for studio tools and materials; and Richard Prisco (Watauga), for materials for new body of work.
The program provides financial support and recognition to committed, accomplished artists, enabling them to advance their work and careers.
A multidisciplinary panel from the four-county region judged the applications in visual arts, music, film and literature.
This grant is partially funded by the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency, in partnership with the arts councils of Alleghany, Ashe, Watauga, and Wilkes counties.
