October is Adopt-A-Dog Month
The American Humane Association has designated October as Adopt-A-Dog Month. Throughout this month, the Watauga Humane Society is conducting a special program to further encourage adoptions, especially for those animals who have been residents of the shelter longer than three months.
During October, the adoption fee for any canine who has been at the shelter three months or longer is being reduced to only $45.
As an added treat, a free day pass to the Watauga Humane Society's dog parks is included with the usual package of gifts and services.
To further the organization's mission of finding loving homes for all shelter animals, the Watauga society is also offering a reduced adoption fee of $35 for any cat who has been at the shelter three months or longer.
"If you have been considering adding a pet to your family and household, now is the time to act," a Watauga Humane Society spokesperson said. "Come visit our shelter, located at 200 Casey Lane, at the end of the Greenway Trail in Perkinsville, and meet all the wonderful animals just waiting for a fur-ever home. Get acquainted with a dog you like by taking him or her for a walk on the Greenway Trail. Or stop by our cat room and enjoy the purr-sonality of our fabulous felines."
