Music on the Mountaintop gets new location
Music on the Mountaintop is officially on for August, despite rumors to the contrary, organizer Jimmy Hunt said Tuesday.
Instead of happening at the old High Country Fairgrounds, the event happens at the Grandfather Mountain Campground Aug. 26 and 27.
"We're still catering to the Boone crowd," Hunt said, pointing out that the campground is only 7.8 miles from downtown Boone. "We needed a new place that was more accommodating to our fans."
The campgrounds, he said, have potable water throughout the entire area, shaded campsites and three public bathhouses.
"We just really, really, really lucked out," he said. "The view from up there is breathtaking."
Hunt said he chose the location from more than 25 pieces of potential property.
"We're just so excited and finally ready to move forward," he said.
More than 20 acts will be featured, including Railroad Earth and Sam Bush.
