IHOP coming to Boone
The Blockbuster Video building vacant since earlier this year has been purchased and is planned as the location for a new IHOP restaurant, a company spokesman confirmed last week.
"We're always looking for good locations ... one that's visible and accessible for parking for our guests," said Craig Hoffman, spokesman for IHOP. "We feel we've found it."
Hoffman said the breakfast restaurant will be owned and operated by a franchisee and that there is currently no timeline for construction.
Boone Planning & Inspections Director Bill Bailey said he anticipates that permit applications for the restaurant will be processed this month.
Blockbuster sold the property at 702 Blowing Rock Road in Boone to SE BB Boone LLC in June for $866,500, according to the Watauga County Register of Deeds office. The company filed creation documents with the N.C. Secretary of State in July and listed its mailing address as The Ardent Companies at 2100 Powers Ferry Road in Atlanta.
