High Country Bike Plan Survey under way
High Country Council of Governments is developing a bike plan
for Yancey, Mitchell, Avery, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany and Wilkes counties.
The plan is
intended to improve safety, access and mobility for cyclists by developing a network of designated
routes that connect municipalities and other major destinations in the region.
The plan will
identify needed improvements to existing roadways, prioritize the improvements and develop a signage
plan to mark the identified routes.
As part of the planning process, a citizen survey has
been developed to gather input on current cycling use, challenges, and desired improvements. The
survey consists of 23 questions, and is geared toward cyclists and noncyclists alike.
The
survey is available online through Survey Monkey. The website address is
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HighCountryBikePlanSurvey.
The survey will be available online through
May 4. It will take 10 to 12 minutes to complete the survey.
For more information about
the survey, contact High Country Council of Governments at (828) 265-5434.
