Grashal Outdoors opens in Boone
There is no longer a need to travel off the mountain for local outdoorsmen.
Grashal Outdoors opened in March after the closing of the last archery supply store in Boone.
Located in the Food Lion shopping plaza off of U.S. 421 in Deep Gap, Grashal carries archery, firearm and fishing supplies and equipment.
Owner Ivan Roten and his two sons are avid archery sportsmen and wanted to fill the need for fellow outdoorsmen in the area.
The name of the business is derived from Roten's sons' names combined, Graham and Marshal, resulting in Grashal Outdoors.
The business boasts an archery specialist on staff to assist customers in choosing the right bow, tuning a bow or selecting supplies. Mike Parlier will set up the bow before the customer leaves the store.
Veronica Ward, another Grashal employee and archery enthusiast, is ready to answer questions regarding bows, as well as the extensive firearm and fishing equipment in stock.
Grashal Outdoors carries long guns, such as rifles and shotguns, and handguns. Trade-ins are welcome, and multiple models and brands are available.
For the archer, Grashal is the only dealer of Hoyt and Matthews brands in the High Country.
Shimano brand fishing rods and reels, both top-shelf and economic versions, are available along with other brands. Grashal offers live and artificial bait.
Outdoorsman can also find apparel and accessories to meet their needs, including muck boots, Scent Lok clothing and Calcutta polarized sunglasses. Scopes, binoculars, cases, targets, ammunition reloading supplies and firearm cleaning supplies are well stocked. Roten said if it isn't in stock, Grashal can order most items.
Grashal Outdoors is open Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The business is a certified N.C. Wildlife Service agent offering fishing and hunting licenses and vessel registration. For more information call (828) 262-3322.
