Dieters beware.
Girl Scout cookies are here.
Last week, the Watauga/Avery chapter of the Girl Scouts of America got its coveted annual cookie shipment. That's 1,721 cases of cookies, cookies like Thin Mints and Caramel deLites.
Proceeds from cookie sales benefit Watauga and Avery's 19 different troops, and we're told 70 percent of the proceeds stay local.
The money is used to fund things like camps and other scouting activities.
The cookies, distributed through the Catawba Valley Girl Scouts Council Inc., were made this year by ABC Bakers in Virginia.
And, even if you haven't pre-ordered your cookies, there's still plenty of opportunities to cash in on tradition. Sale locations this week include:
Boone Mall
Feb. 18, 3-6 p.m.
Feb. 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Harris Teeter (Boone)
Feb. 19, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Lowe's Foods (Boone)
Feb. 19, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Locations and hours of cookie sales are also available online at http://www.girlscoutsp2p.org.
