Article Published: Aug. 22, 2012 | Modified: Aug. 22, 2012

A barbecue fundraiser will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, beginning at 11 a.m., to raise funds for the family of the late Deputy William Ronald Mast Jr., who was killed in the line of duty on July 26.

The fundraiser will be held at Lowe’s Home Improvement, 1855 Blowing Rock Road, Boone.

Barbecue plates are $7 each, as is a barbecue sandwich plate. Raffle tickets for prizes will be $1 each.

The event is sponsored by M & P Roofing Specialists, LLC — Hickory. For more information, contact Lyndsay Starnes at (828) 855-9141.

FaithBridge United Methodist Church is currently accepting donations through its Samaritans Fund to support the family of Mitchell Trivette, who was killed July 26 in the incident that took the life of Deputy Mast.

Trivette, 33, was a self-employed carpenter and left behind a wife, daughter and son.

The family is currently working to secure housing, and FaithBridge United Methodist plans to use its Samaritans Fund to assist them in those efforts, according to the Rev. Marianne Romanat.

Anyone interested in donating can send a check payable to FaithBridge United Methodist Church with the memo line noted for “Samaritans Fund.”
