Freshmen will arrive at Appalachian State University Friday, Aug. 17, for the 2012-13 academic year.

According to university officials, “Traffic in town may be more congested at times as a result.”

The new students will move into their campus residence halls from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Returning students will move in Saturday, Aug. 18. Classes begin Aug. 21.

The university has a series of Welcome Week activities planned for students, including a Black and Gold Ceremony to officially welcome freshmen and transfers to the Appalachian Family, DJ dance, outdoor movie night, introductions to student life and other events.
