Free FAFSA day at ASU Feb. 18
Financial aid counselors at Appalachian State University will
be available to meet with the families of high school seniors to help them complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid form and answer questions.
The event will take place
from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 18 in Edwin Duncan Hall room 324.

The free FAFSA day will take place in all 100 counties in North Carolina, with
more than 300 sites available for students and their families to attend.
Completing the
FAFSA form is a requirement for students who are interested in being eligible for federal and state
financial aid and scholarships and grants for college.
The local event is sponsored by
NCACHE, the North Carolina Appalachian Collaborative for Higher Education, which supports area
students, teachers and school districts in promoting access to higher education, housed at
Appalachian.
The statewide event is sponsored by the College Foundation of North Carolina,
the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and State Employees’ Credit
Union.
Those interested in attending the event with a goal of completing their FAFSA should
bring both the student’s and parent’s federal 1040 tax forms for 2011 or W-2 forms if taxes have not
been filed yet, the students’ and one of the parent’s personal identification numbers (PINs) which
should be obtained in advanced from the U.S. Department of Education website, http://www.pin.ed.gov, and a
FAFSA from worksheet with most known information completed.
