Early voting under way

Voters can go the polls this week, as the first of three early voting sites opened Thursday, Oct. 18, in Watauga County.

Early voting takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays between Oct. 18 and Nov. 2 at the Watauga County Board of Elections office, located on the bottom floor of the courthouse on King Street. That site also will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.

A second early voting location will open in the Price Lake Room of the Plemmons Student Union at Appalachian State University from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays from Oct. 22 to Nov. 2.

A new early voting site will be offered from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 at the Foscoe Fire Department on N.C. 105.

Voters may visit any of the three early voting sites, regardless of where they live in Watauga County.
Anyone who missed the Oct. 12 registration deadline may register and vote on the same day during the early voting period. Registration will not take place on Election Day.
