Drink Health To Haiti
Responding to the natural disaster that has rocked the nation of Haiti, local non-profit
organization Wine To Water will be holding wine and beer tasting events to raise funds for the communities affected by the myriad difficulties following the quake.
The events will be held Friday, Jan. 22, from 7-9 p.m. at Char in Boone, and Saturday, Jan. 23, at Hearthstone Tavern and Grille from 6-8 p.m. in Banner Elk.
Live music will be played at the restaurants, and all are invited to attend the events to raise support. All the proceeds from the gatherings will go directly to the Wine To Water Haiti Emergency Fund, which will be used to restore clean drinking water to the communities that have been devastated by the disaster.
For those who would like to attend in sobriety, non-alcoholic drinks and food will be available. Also during the two evenings, silent auctions will be held to raise money for the emergency fund. The items to be sold have been donated by local companies for the cause.
Anyone unable to attend, but able to donate online, is encouraged to visit the Wine To Water Web site, http://www.winetowater.org, where people can give to the emergency fund. Some businesses that have given items for the auction, as well as making cash donations, include Char, Hearthstone Tavern and Grille, Shelton Vineyards, Hanover Park Vineyards, Savory Thymes, Town Tavern, Creative Style-Kari Vince, Lowes, Stefan Olson Photography, Precision Printing, Shannon's Curtain, Twigs Restaurant and First Tracks.
