College Street closing

Public works crews in Boone have closed College Street from King Street to Howard Street for a beautification and utilities project that will last until some time this fall.

Crews are currently ripping up asphalt and will widen the sidewalk on the First Baptist Church side of the street, removing a number of parking spaces. Those spaces will be replaced by new ones added to nearby Hamby Alley.

Motorists can still access the ASU parking deck by turning into the drive in front of the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts. The beautification project is a collaborative venture between First Baptist Church, the town of Boone and Appalachian State University.
