The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce announced the 2012 winners of the Award of Merit for Development.

The awards were presented during the Chamber’s Business After Hours, hosted by The Saddle Club at Yonahlossee, on Thursday, Sept. 27.

The judging panel includes architects, developers, building contractors and former winners. A large colorful sign denoting their award-winning project will be on display at each property for one year.
Categories judged were multi-family, large and small new commercial, and most improved. This year, special recognition is going to two projects: one for “adaptive reuse” and one for “enhanced streetscape.”

The Award of Merit for Multi-Family Development went to Johnny Cooke on behalf of State Farm Road Apartments. The Award of Merit for New Construction (Large Commercial) went to First Presbyterian Church. The Award of Merit for New Construction (Small Commercial) went to the Dr. David Linzey on behalf of the Animal Emergency and Pete Care Clinic of the High Country, and Honorable Mention for New Construction (Small Commercial for Enhanced Streetscape) went to Steve Brown on behalf of Paul Brown Enterprises Inc.

The Award of Merit for Most Improved (Small Commercial) went to Scott Prewitt on behalf of Come Back Shack, and Honorable Mention for Most Improved (Small Commercial for Adaptive Reuse) went to Alison and Steve Garrett on behalf of 1861 Farmhouse.
