American Red Cross hosts blood drives in Boone


The American Red Cross will hold the following blood drives in the coming weeks of May:

— Thursday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center, located at 971 W. King St. near downtown Boone. For an appointment, call (828) 265-8002.

— Tuesday, May 7, from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express at 1855 Blowing Rock Road in Boone. This particular event is the Watauga Community Drive, sponsored by the Lions Club. For an appointment, call (828) 898-2325, or visit http://www.redcrossblood.org and enter “Holiday Inn Express” as a sponsor code to schedule a time.

— Monday, May 13, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Boone United Methodist Church, located at 471 New Market Blvd. in Boone. For an appointment, call the church at (828) 264-6090.

— Monday, May 13, from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Watauga High School, located at 300 Go Pioneers Drive in Boone. For an appointment, call Regina Alford at (828) 264-2407, ext. 11218, or (828) 719-9658.

— Monday, May 27, from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at Deerfield United Methodist Church, located at 1184 Deerfield Road in Boone. For an appointment, call Pat at (828) 268-0509.

— Friday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the N.C. Department of Transportation office on N.C. 194. For an appointment, call Carolyn at (828) 265-5378.
