All About Women changes format
All About Women of the High Country will change to a bimonthly publication beginning with the January/February 2010 issue.
"It is a positive change we have thought about for a while now," said the magazine's publisher Nancy Morrison. "By printing fewer issues, we will have more time to fully develop topics and provide a more complete magazine. Economic conditions also played a role in our decision as it will be less costly to produce an every-other-month magazine, even with more pages, than printing every month.
"The schedule is very tight for our small staff," she added. "As soon as one magazine is finished, the next one is going into full production. With the brevity of scheduling, we often have not had as much time as we needed."
Magazine editor Sherrie Norris said, "The positive feedback we constantly receive from the community encourages us to raise the bar. By having more time to focus on quality rather than quantity, our staff will be able to provide a product that truly reflects the immense talents and accomplishments of High Country women in a much more positive light."
She added, "We are fortunate, also, to have the support of high caliber advertisers who are standing by us in this exciting time of transition and believe in what we're doing. That means a lot to all of us, as well."
The magazine was started in 2005 as a quarterly publication. It later increased to bimonthly and then to monthly.
All About Women of the High Country is distributed at various locations in Watauga, Avery, and Ashe counties. It is also available by subscription.
The January/February issue will be available on Jan.15. The March/April issue will be on the streets on or before March 1.
