ACT service-learning seeks nominations for awards

Appalachian and the Community Together's (ACT) service-learning program will celebrate its 10th anniversary at a luncheon on Friday, April 9.

Outstanding students, alumni, community partners or faculty members who have been involved in the growth and development of the ACT program can be nominated for awards to be presented at the luncheon.

To nominate a person for an award, visit Persons may nominate up to three people, and there is a 250-word limit for each nomination. All information on the form must be completed in order for that person to be eligible for nomination. All nominations must be received by Tuesday, March 16.

The ACT office will also collect photos from students, faculty and staff for the "Serve. Snap. Share." photo contest. Photos can be submitted through March 24, and the winners will be announced at the luncheon.

Details for the contest can be found at Proceeds will benefit the Leigh Lane Edwards scholarship fund, which honors the memory of a student who was dedicated to serving others, but passed away in December 2005 during her junior year at Appalachian.
