Broadway performer Michael L. Walters is "Mr. Broadway."

Walters delivers with gusto his one-man show, "Mr. Broadway," a journey through the world of musical comedy as seen through the eyes of an actor who lives to entertain.

The consummate showman sings classic Broadway tunes from his personal favorite shows and re-enacts some of his most-beloved roles. This fast-paced journey is also peppered with stories of special celebrity encounters, offstage mishaps and hilarious tales about Walters' family, a clan that was never quite sure what to do with a show-biz kid.

"Mr. Broadway" plays Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hayes Performing Arts Center.

A self-described "leading man's voice in a character actor's body," Walters promises laughing and crying during such big numbers as a Carol Channing/Louis Armstrong duet of "Hello, Dolly" and the emotional power ballad, "I Am What I Am," from "La Cage aux Folles."

A native of Hope, Ark., Walters was delivered by the same nurse who delivered former President Bill Clinton. That nurse also happened to be his late grandmother, Wilma Booker. Walters began performing as soon as he realized he had an unquenchable thirst to be the center of attention.

A natural mimic, he began as a miniature Rich Little, doing impressions of the entire cast of "The Muppet Show," the iconic Archie Bunker and countless other television icons - and he hasn't stopped since.

With an uncanny talent for emulating charisma, passion and comic timing, Walters has made a living impersonating such legendary figures as Jackie Gleason and Dame Edna, the latter of whom Walters holds the distinct honor of being the longest-running authorized Dame Edna impersonator. Barry Humphries, creator of Dame Edna Everage, called Walters' performance "spectacular!"

Ticket prices and times for "Mr. Broadway" start at $30 for Friday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary by seat location.
