LMC presents ‘The 39 Steps’
After a sensational season-opener with “Chicago,” Lees-McRae Summer Theatre is presents “The 39 Steps” July 17 to 21.
Broadway’s longest running comedy, “The 39 Steps” played its 500th performance on Broadway May 19, 2009.
“This is one of the funniest and most rewarding shows I’ve ever directed!” said Dr. Janet Barton Speer, director for “The 39 Steps” and founder of Lees-McRae Summer Theatre.
In “The 39 Steps,” a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who claims she’s a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization, called “The 39 Steps,” is hot on the man’s trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale. A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, “The 39 Steps” amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure.
“The 39 Steps” will be performed on the following dates and times: July 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 at 7 p.m. and July 20 and 21 at 2 p.m.
