Bullying, beware.

Blowing Rock’s Ensemble Stage is presenting three anti-bullying plays performed by local students Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m.

“The Three Billy Goats Griff” is a takeoff on the classic children’s tale of a similar name and is geared toward children up to ager 9. According to artistic director Gary Smith, “(The play) presents the anti-bullying message in a fun and entertaining way.”

“Bystanders” and “Last Testament” are a couple of dramatic and, according to Smith, very powerful pieces for ages 10 through adult.

The plays will be performed by 14 students from Blowing Rock School and directed by Smith.
The total program runtime is one hour, including talks from members of Watauga High School’s No Bullies Club and Blowing Rock Police Department’s Capt. Aaron Miller during set-changes.

“Admission to this important program is free, so there’s no excuse for not coming, showing your support of these kids, the hard work they’ve done and the important message they’re delivering,” Smith said.

The performance takes place at Blowing Rock School Auditorium, located at 160 Sunset Drive in downtown Blowing Rock. For more information, visit http://www.ensemblestage.com or call (828) 414-1844.
