"Many of our patrons come from eastern North Carolina, and when we have open
auditions for children, many of our youth actors come from North Carolina," said Karen Sabo,
director of education at Barter Theatre. "Education is a big part of Barter Theatre's mission and as
a proponent of performing arts in the region, and we want to offer this special opportunity to
children in North Carolina.
"The skills picked up can be helpful in community theater, church
productions, as well as in school theater. Even if your child is not interested at this time in
pursuing acting, the classes are fun, teach self-esteem, foster creativity and encourage
listening."
