Welcome to Gnarnia
7 Walkers, featuring Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead, will perform in Beech Mountain as part of the Gnarnia Festival this August.
This summer, an event is taking place amongst the oldest
mountains on planet Earth: The Festival of Gnarnia, to be held at Beech Mountain Resort Aug. 9 to
11.
Though early in the game, the three-day festival already boasts a diverse lineup.
Performances for Thursday, Aug. 9, include Beats Antique, 7 Walkers, Gramatik, Paper Diamond, ESKMO,
Afroman, Eliot Lipp, Heyoka, Machines are People Too, KDSML and Andrew Fletcher’s Silent Movie
Theatre.
Friday’s performers include Tipper, Emancipator, Mark Farina, Dieselboy, Easy Star
All Stars, Toubab Krewe, VibeSquaD, Break Science, Gift of Gab, Zoogma, Starkey,
Firecracker Jazz Band and Ziggurat.
Saturday’s lineup features 12th Planet, Ott,
Papadosio, Midnite, Rising Appalachia, Govinda, The Polish Ambassador, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band,
The Mantras, Seduction Sideshow, Laura Reed with Shannon Sanders and Brushfire
Stankgrass.
Final announcements will be made April 23, although organizers are already
promising performance areas, interactive workshops, performance arts, healthy cuisine options,
bicycle jousting, mud wrestling tournaments, hikes, waterfalls and vacation rentals.
Ski
lifts will be available for guests to summit the mountain for yoga and meditation workshops or
simply to watch the sunset fill a 100-mile view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Visitors can
choose from a variety of vacation rentals, including private cabins, chalets and houses, many of
which are within walking distance of the resort. Prices are as low as $20 per person, per night when
booking with friends, although visitors may upgrade to a slopeside rental to watch the event from
the porch or even a private cabin with a hot tub.
“GnEarly Bird” tickets are now available at
