Soprano, alto saxophones in March 20 recital
Saxophonist Steven Mauk is professor of saxophone in the School of Music at Ithaca College in New York.
Saxophonist Steven Mauk will present a guest recital March 20
at 6 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Recital Hall at Appalachian State University.
Mauk is
professor of saxophone in the School of Music at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. He is considered an
authority on the soprano saxophone.
The recital features two movements from Bach’s “Partita
in A Minor, BWV 1013” and “Ku Ku” by Barry Cockroft, both performed on soprano saxophone.
The alto saxophone will be featured on “Tango Etude No. 4” by Astor Piazzolla, “Caprice en
forme de Valse” by Paul Bonneau and “BILLIE for alto saxophone and ghetto blaster” by Jacob ter
Veldhuis.
