Saturday Jams at Canyons
The High Country attracts a lot of great musicians to its restaurants and nightclubs. Unfortunately, many of these shows start too late for working folks and families to enjoy them.
Canyons of the Blue Ridge in Blowing Rock has been presenting its weekly Jazz Brunch events on Sunday to help present more daytime live music in the area.
Now, Canyons has added early Saturday concerts, as well.
This Saturday, Dec. 17, Canyons will host a free concert, featuring The Harris Brothers from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Next Saturday Canyons’ “Saturday Jam,” as it is being dubbed, will feature guitarist Don Vallarta.
“We started the Saturday Jam last weekend, and the place was filled,” Canyons owner Bart Conway said. “Sometimes, it’s hard to find something to do in the winter here in Blowing Rock, so I think this will fill a void.”
In addition to the special Saturday live music, Canyons is offering its Sunday brunch menu on Saturday.
The Harris Brothers
For the past 17 years, Reggie and Ryan Harris have brought the classic sounds of Little Feat, J.J. Cale, Dire Straits and others to life in a laid back, yet intense, style.
With guitar, bass and harmony vocals, the boys have found a large following in and around the mountains of western North Carolina.
This year, they had the honor of opening the annual Symphony at Chetola concert and attracted hundreds of fans to their Friday afternoon concerts at The Best Cellar in Blowing Rock. They also performed for special events at the Tanger Shoppes on the Parkway and the Blue Ridge Mountain Club.
