Rock-edged Americana
David Newbould will perform a free show Friday, June 29, at Canyons in Blowing Rock.
Singer-songwriter David Newbould, whose soulful work has been
featured on television’s “Criminal Minds,” “Dawson’s Creek” and “Party of Five,” will roll his
rollicking brand of rock-edged Americana into the High Country, when he and his band visit Blowing
Rock’s Canyons for a free holiday week kickoff show Friday, June 29.
Through his constant
touring and prodigious song output, Newbould, a native Canadian, has cultivated a following of fans,
critics and industry execs alike, drawing loyal crowds from coast to coast. Currently based in
Nashville, he’s frequently invited to participate in the revered songwriter showcases regularly
staged at the storied Bluebird Café, famed launching pad for the careers of stars from Kathy Mattea
to Garth Brooks.
Newbould’s honest writing style and raspy, melodic delivery, which
often draw comparisons to both Ryan Adams and Edwin McCain, will be highlighted in full force at
Canyons, as he’ll feature brand new material from his latest album, “Tennessee,” slated for release
later this summer.
Of his new work, Newbould said, “All I know is that this work is a
long haul. I’ve been running towards these songs and this place for a long time. I’m glad we all
found each other and am very excited to get this out into the
world.”
You can find Newbould
at Canyons in Blowing Rock, located at 8960 U.S. 321. The Friday, June 29, show is free, open to all
ages and scheduled to start at 8 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.canyonsbr.com or call (828)
