John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats will perform solo May 1 in Boone.

John Darnielle will bring his solo performance to Legends Music Hall at Appalachian State University May 1.

Darnielle is the primary member of the American-folk rock group, The Mountain Goats. Darnielle’s solo performance aims to “revive the same nature of transcendentalism once spread before but with a more mature, captivating manner.”

Darnielle’s hits include “No Children,” “This Year” and “Love, Love, Love.” His recently released album from Merge Records is titled “Transcendental Youth.”

Doors open for the performance at 9 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 for Appalachian students and $12 for guests and at the door.

Legends, located on Hardin Street in Boone, and has a six-pack limit policy.
