Jazz vocal ensemble performs Nov. 17

Keith McCutchen directs the Jazz Vocal Ensemble from Appalachian State University’s Hayes School of Music in a Nov. 17 concert. The program begins at 2 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

The 10-member vocal ensemble will perform “Seven Steps to Heaven” by Victor Feldman and Miles Davis, “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face” by Alan Lerner and Frederick Loewe, and “Lady Be Good” by George and Ira Gershwin.

Soloists from the ensemble will be featured on “Just the Two of Us” by Bill Withers and “Good Morning Heartache” by Irene Higginbotham. The ensemble also will perform jazz arrangements of popular Christmas songs.

The ensemble will be accompanied by Will Petty, bass; Seth Trump, drums; and McCutchen, piano. Trumpeter David Marvel, violist Quinn Johnson and pianist Ingrid Forsyth also will provide accompaniment.
