Homegrown Heroes of Music
Velvet Truckstop kicks off this year’s High Country Heroes Music Series at Murphy’s Feb. 3.
In an effort to keep February from being one of the slowest live music months in the High Country, Murphy’s Restaurant & Pub devised the High Country Heroes Music Series.
Founded in 2005, the idea is to take advantage of that time of year when many touring bands are on hiatus, and schedule as many local, regional and homegrown acts as possible.
The 2012 schedule is as follows:
Friday, Feb. 3 – Velvet Truckstop
Saturday, Feb. 4 – The Major Sevens
Friday, Feb. 10 – Jonathan Scales Fourchestra
Saturday, Feb. 11 – Kids in the Sandbox
Friday, Feb. 17 – Chalwa
Saturday, Feb. 18 – Nomadic
Friday, Feb. 24 – Big Daddy Love
Saturday, Feb. 25 – Wave Lynx
Friday, March 3 – High Country Heroes Grand Finale (featuring BPL and The Native Sway)
And there’s more. Murphy’s has already lined up acts to follow the series, including Dopapod, Turbine, Vertigo Jazz Project, CinderCat, Jeff Sipe, Lost Ridge, KinGator, Big Something, Stokeswood, xvsk and more.
Murphy’s is located at 747 W. King St. in downtown Boone. For more information, call (828) 264-5117 or visit http://www.murphysboone.com.
