Gringo Star plays Saloon Saturday
Gringo Star will perform Saturday at the Boone Saloon.
A "kind-of" native band, Gringo Star, is coming to the Boone
Saloon and bringing an atmosphere of quirky good fun.
Opening for Gringo Star will be area
band Guard the Van, which is currently finishing a soon-to-be released album.
Gringo Star is
based out of Atlanta, Ga., and Nicholas Furgiuele, bassist, said the best hting about the South was
"grits." He prefers to eat his with jalapenos.
In 2009, the Star toured Europe with
juggernaut rock group ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead.
Furgiuele plays with his
brother, Peter, and both spent time in Boone and attended Watauga High School. Formerly, they were
a part of the King Street Blues Band.
Gringo Star recently performed at the South by
Southwest festival and have been invited to Lollapalooza as they continue to tour the United
States and Europe.
They also toured, in a sense, or scents, with designer brand Tommy
Hilfiger, having sold a song, "All Y'all," for the company's pre-Christmas ad
campaign.
They'll stop in Boone on Saturday, April 10, to play at the Boone Saloon,
starting around 9 p.m. There is a $5 cover. The Boone Saloon is located at 489 W. King
St.
