Freak Heat Waves in Boone
Don’t blame it on the weatherman.
Freak Heat Waves are hitting Boone Nov. 25, with a performance at Espresso News and Low Bar.
The show starts at 9 p.m., and there’s a $5 cover.
Freak Heat Waves is a self-described “krautrock, post-punk” group from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The group’s music consists of minimal bass grooves, wiry guitar experimentation and damaged baritone vocals.
The Nov. 25 show marks Freak Heat Waves’ second appearance in Boone, having previously performed at Espresso Nov. 2 with Montreal-based Each Other.
Freak Heat Waves will be joined by Baby Habit, a solo minimal snyth-pop project from Kate Lally, who’s come to Boone via Baltimore, Md. The Nov. 25 show marks her second performance in Boone, and, according to event organizers, the audience can expect “catchy, distorted synth melodies and distant minimal vocals.”
Espresso News and Low Bar are located at 267 Howard St. in downtown Boone. For more information, call (828) 264-8850.
