‘Four Seasons’ at Watauga High
Musicians Akal DevSharonne and Will Selle will perform with the Watauga High School orchestras Oct. 22.
The Watauga High School orchestras will hold their first
concert of the season Monday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. in Watauga High School’s Ross Auditorium.
The program will feature works by Vivaldi, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Stamitz and Handel and
will open with an Honors Orchestra performance of the “Autumn” concerto from Vivaldi’s “The Four
Seasons.”
The performance of the “Autumn” concerto” will feature conductor Will Selle as
violin soloist.
Selle has served as the conductor and music director of the Watauga
High Orchestra programs since 2008 and this is his first solo performance with the group. Selle will
also conduct the Honors Orchestra, followed by the WHS intermediate orchestra and the combined
orchestras.
The Honors Orchestra will also perform Carl Stamitz’s “Flute Concerto in G
Major,” featuring flutist Akal DevSharonne.
Sharonne has received many accolades for her
work as a flutist across the United States and in Western Europe. She has been featured as a soloist
with the Boston Pops, has performed as a chamber musician in Carnegie Hall and was part of North
Carolina’s prestigious Visiting Artist Program for three years, bringing her art to many underserved
audiences in schools, nursing homes, prisons and other settings. Her forthcoming album, “Out of the
Ashes,” celebrates the healing power of music.
The concert is free and the public is invited
to attend.
