Finer to be in Carolina
Some musicians are dedicated to their craft, and then some are
No one could argue the level of commitment husband-wife duo Finer has made for a career in music.
Comprised of Ethan James and Stacy Basner, Finer is an electronic rock tandem that brings its engaging style of music to life at each performance.
James and Basner will hold their first live performance in Boone at Bald Guy Brew on King Street on Tuesday, April 8. The show starts at 7 p.m.
James and Basner met while attending the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Calif., and have been making music together ever since.
After witnessing their friends sell almost all of their worldly possessions for careers as touring artists, James and Basner decided to follow in their footsteps. “We’ve just always wanted to tour and play music,” James said.
“We’ve always played with such a great group of people, but life happens, and people get married … have kids,” Basner said. “A couple of years later, we came to a point where this is what we want to do.”
Meeting new people and experiencing different situations has added to the allure of being a travelling artist, Basner said.
While the duo has never been to the High Country before, James and Basner have toured extensively in the Triangle area of central North Carolina, including stops in Greensboro and Chapel Hill.
Basner said they strive to make each show “super fun and really engaging.”
“We like for everyone to get involved and sing along,” she said.
Those who swing by Bald Guy Brew next week to check out their act will be treated to “crazy solos,” along with a DJ mix and other predesigned sounds, Basner said.
“It’s going to be a really good night,” she said.
Boone’s own Redleg Husky, a folk and Americana band, will also perform.
Bald Guy Brew is located at 585 W. King St. in downtown Boone. For more information, visit http://www.finerband.com and http://www.redleghusky.com.
