Faculty recital features brass, woodwinds and percussion
Saxophones, trumpets and flugelhorn are the featured
instruments during a Hayes School of Music Faculty Recital Feb. 24.
The recital begins at 8
p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.
Featured musicians are
Dr. Scott Kallestad and Dr. James Stokes Jr., members of the music faculty.
Joining Kallestad
and Stokes will be pianists Christina Hayes and Keith McCutchen, clarinetist Douglas Miller, alto
saxophonist Todd Wright, trumpeter Brent Bingham, trombonist Drew Leslie, tuba player Christopher
Blaha, guitarist Andy Page, bass player Ron Brendle and percussionist Rick Dilling.
Works on
the program are “Quiet City” by Aaron Copland, “Dreams and Dances” by Richard Gillis, “Concerto pour
saxophone alto and trompette en ut” by Jean Rivier, “Move” by Denzil De Costa Best, “Moon Alley” by
Tom Harrell and “Pie Hole” by Michael B. Nelson.
