“Country, Gospel and Piano Classics” will be presented by Mountain Home Music on Sunday, May 27, at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium in downtown Blowing Rock.

David Johnson and The Studio Band will provide the music.

Johnson, a multi-instrumentalist, is a full-time studio musician; he plays to help others sound good on CDs, mp3s, radio and television. He has twice been named National Studio Musician of the Year in gospel music, and he is a member of the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame.

The Studio Band is comprised of four other full-time studio musicians, including Tracy Davis (bass), Danny Crawford (piano), Richard Putnam (piano) and Rick Murray (drums). Individually and collectively, their clients include Tony Rice, Arthur Smith (who wrote “Dueling Banjos”), Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson and innumerable country, bluegrass and gospel bands.

“A special segment of the concert will also be devoted to patriotic songs, to veterans, to the memory of those who gave their all in service to our country,” said Joe Shannon, Mountain Home Music founder and host. “We’ve produced a concert on Memorial Day weekend for the past 15 years. The special military salute is always included, and it’s an essential part of what we do.”

The concert will take place at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium in downtown Blowing Rock. Starting time is 8 p.m.

Tickets for “Country, Gospel and Piano Classics” are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Student tickets are $10, and children’s tickets are $5.

Tickets may be purchased at the Mast Store (Boone and Valle Crucis), Fred’s Mercantile on Beech Mountain, Kudzu (formerly Rydell’s) Music Center in Boone, and at Pandora’s Mailbox and the Dulcimer Shop, both in the Martin House on Main Street in downtown Blowing Rock.

Tickets may also be purchased online though the Mountain Home Music website, http://www.mountainhomemusic.com. For more information, visit the website or call (828) 964-3392.
The purpose of Mountain Home Music is to honor the music and the musicians of the Appalachian region.

Mountain Home Music is affiliated with the Blue Ridge Music Trails, a project of the North Carolina Arts Council.
