Concerts at Hayes School of Music
Gospel Choir midnight performance Oct. 11
The ASU Gospel Choir presents Midnight Musical 2013 Friday, Oct. 11, at midnight in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. Keith McCutchen is the director.
The performance is part of homecoming activities Oct. 11 to 12 at Appalachian.
Selections to be performed include “Every Praise,” “We Lift Our Hands in the Sanctuary,” “Come Thou Almighty King,” “Stir up the Gift” and “Oh Lord You’re My Everything.”
Irish music performed Oct. 13
The Irish Ensemble will perform Sunday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Recital Hall at Appalachian State University. The ensemble is comprised of past participants of the Hayes School of Music’s summer study abroad program to Ireland.
The group will play a variety of Irish jigs and reels on the button accordion, mandolin, tin whistle, fiddle, bodhrán, guitar, mandolin, harp, flute and Highland pipes.
Selections include “Gypsy Princess/Kesh Jig,” “Out on the Ocean/Blarney Pilgrim,” “Bonaparte Crossing the Alps,” “Boys of Ballycastle/ Rights of Man” and “Whiskey in the Jar.”
