Concerts at Hayes School of Music
Repertory Orchestra and Concert Band perform Nov.
28
The Appalachian Repertory Orchestra and the Appalachian Concert Band will perform
Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State
University. Admission is free.
The orchestra will perform music from Aaron Copeland’s film
score for “Our Town,” Ralph Vaughn Williams’ “Six Studies in English Folk Song” with guest
clarinetist Doug Miller, and Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture.”
Members of the Watauga High
School Honors Orchestra will join the repertory orchestra for the performance. Will Selle is the
conductor.
The concert band will perform Jan Van der Roost’s “Puszta,” Richard Strauss’
“Allerseelen” and Norman Dello Joio’s “Satiric Dances.” Dr. John Stanley Ross and graduate
students Brooke Humfeld and Justin Hensley are the conductors.
Hayes String Ensemble performs Nov. 28
The Hayes String Ensemble from Appalachian State University’s Hayes School of Music will perform Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.
Ensemble members are Miranda S. Grimmer, violin; Alexander Binkley, viola; Joyu Lee, cello; Leigh Stringfellow, harp; and Kathryn Holley, flute.
The program features Mikhail Glinka’s “Romance,” Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Le Cygne,” two movements from Claude Debussy’s “Sonate pour flute, alto, et harpe” and two movements from Beethoven’s “String Trio in E-flat, Op.3.”
