Celtic Christmas at MHM
When does it start to feel like Christmas? Is it flakes of snow, holiday music, a Christmas tree, shopping, decorations, a gathering of family and friends, moments of worship and reflection?
Whatever it is, if beautiful music, seasonal decorations, and joyful voices are personally important parts of the season, you are invited to Mountain Home Music's Celtic Christmas, which will be Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Meadowbrook Inn in downtown Blowing Rock.
Songs of the season will be provided by Puddingstone, a Celtic ensemble that features harp, hammer dulcimer, classical guitar, flute, and piano. This year's set list includes "Bring the Torch Jeanette Isabella," "In the Bleak Midwinter," "Road to Boston," "Ashoken Farwell," "A Time to Remember," and many more.
Puddingstone includes David Abernethy, Michael Willis, Denise Baxter-Yoder, Paul Holt, Suzanne Williams and Greg Knight. In addition to annual concerts on Mountain Home Music, Puddingstone often performs at the Biltmore House in Asheville and also at the Moravian Christmas festival in Old Salem.
Mountain Home Music founder and host, Joe Shannon will perform "My Lily," which is featured on this year's annual "Christmas in the Mountains" CD to benefit the Hunger and Health Coalition. Audience sing-alongs are a part of all Mountain Home Music concerts, and words to several seasonal favorites will be provided.
The concert will start at 8 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.
Prior to the concert, the Meadowbrook Inn is offering a special Celtic dinner. The menu includes shepherd's pie, broiled Atlantic white fish, Colcannon (grilled potatoes and cabbage), collard greens, pumpkin, rice, apricots and sticky toffee pudding.
Tickets for the concert only are $15 in advance or $18 at the door. A special combo ticket (dinner and concert) is available for $28.
Tickets may be purchased at Mast General Store (Valle Crucis and Boone), Rydell Music Center (Boone), Fred's Mercantile (Beech Mountain) and Pandora's Mailbox and the Dulcimer Shop (in Blowing Rock). Tickets may also be purchased through the Mountain Home Music website, http://www.mountainhomemusic.com. For more information call (828) 964-3392.
