‘Celebrate Singing!’ Oct. 8
On Oct. 8, the High Country’s set to celebrate
singing.
The Watauga Arts Council presents “Celebrate Singing!” Saturday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m.
at Boone United Methodist Church, located at 471 New Market Blvd. in Boone.
The event will
feature a number of singing styles and groups from the High Country and Piedmont Triad, including
the Triad Harmony Express men’s chorus from Winston-Salem, Treble Attraction women’s group from
Appalachian State University, the High Country High School Chorale, the Mountainaires Quartet and
the BUMC Men’s Chorus.
This is the 30th year that Triad Harmony Express has performed a fall
show in Boone, this time bringing a new package of familiar tunes that the whole family can
enjoy.
Treble Attraction has been organized at ASU for the past five years as an a cappella
group that provides a variety of music stylings, including sacred music and popular
songs.
The High Country High School Chorale is in its third year and features local singers
from eight through 12th grades.
The Mountainaires have been entertaining in the High Country
for 32 years, including a featured role in the local 1993 stage production of “The Music
Man.”
The BUMC Men’s Chorus is in its second year, featuring four-part harmony singing in
both barbershop and glee-club stylings.
“Celebrate Singing!” is a free event, though
donations are accepted to support the Watauga Arts Council’s music scholarship
program.
