Black Banjo and Fiddle Workshop and Concert March 28
Folk performers Sparky and Rhonda Rucker will take part in the Black Banjo and Fiddle Workshop and Concert March 28 at ASU.
The annual Black Banjo and Fiddle Workshop and Concert at
Appalachian State University will be held Wednesday, March 28, in Plemmons Student Union from noon
to 10 p.m.
The public is invited.
The event will include workshops, music, lectures
and an evening concert, featuring Alan Jabbour and James Leva, Sparky and Rhonda Rucker, Carl
Johnson and Jerron Paxton.
Workshops with the featured artists will be held from noon to 5
p.m. in the student union’s Summit Trail Solarium. A 7:30 p.m. concert highlighting the artists’
rich contributions to Appalachian music and heritage will be held in the student union’s Blue Ridge
Ballroom. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Student tickets are $5, guest tickets $10, and can be

The
Black Banjo and Fiddle Workshop and Concert is hosted by the Appalachian Heritage Council, NEA Black
Banjo Project, Department of English, Appalachian studies program and the Appalachian Popular
Programming Society and co-sponsored by the Watauga Arts Council.
