Billy Scott & The Party Prophets play Banner Elk
The Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce’s second Summer Concert in
the Park of the season tunes into Banner Elk Thursday, June 28.
The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. on the Tate-Evans Town Park stage, featuring Billy Scott & The Party Prophets.
Formerly known as Billy Scott and the Prophets, Scott & The Party Prophets is a veteran music group known for such beach music classics as “I Got the Fever,” “California,” “Beach Trip,” “Roll Around Rockin’,” Rockin’ Good Way” and the smash hit, “My Kind of Girl.”
The award-winning six-piece dance and show group plays a wide variety of music, including beach, blues, Motown, retro, funk and oldies.
The group has been a main staple on the Southeastern private party, festival, concert, corporate functions, night club and wedding circuit for more than 30 years.
In 1997, the band opened for The Temptations in Charlotte to a sold-out crowd of 17,000.
Scott has been inducted in the Beach Music Hall of Fame and the N.C. Music Hall of Fame and has a room full of Cammy Awards to his credit. He was awarded with three more Cammy Awards on Nov. 11, 2001, at the Alabama Theater in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Scott’s hit song, “My Kind of Girl,” won Song of the Year and Ballad of the Year, and he also took home the 2001 Male Vocalist of the Year award.

Tate-Evans Town Park is located behind Bank of America on N.C. 194. Concert-goers are encourage to bring chairs or blankets and coolers. Food will be available for purchase, as will raffle tickets for various prizes and a cash drawing. Admission is free.
