Ahleuchatistas perform Dec. 7
Ahleuchatistas, featuring Shane Perlowin and Ryan Oslance, will perform at Espresso News in downtown Boone Dec. 7.
The Ahleuchatistas are coming to Espresso News, and they’re not
alone.
The Asheville-based improvisational fusion outfit will perform Dec. 7, along with
Bubbly Mommy Gun and Meridian.
According to the band’s official bio, Ahleuchatistas is
guitarist Shane Perlowin and drummer Ryan Oslance “on a musical odyssey of pure imagination,
limitless in influences, combining tight-knit composition with improvisation, and delivering
powerful live shows.”
The project was founded in 2002, with its name the marriage of two
words that “give an identity and conceptual continuity to a musical enterprise without limits,” the
bio reads.
“Ah-Leu-Cha” is the title of a Charlie Parker song, while “Zapatistas” refers to
the 1994 revolutionary movement in Chiapas, Mexico.
“Movement and the constant outstripping
of itself are what unifies all the sounds under this single name,” the bio reads.
Also
performing are Athens, Ga.-based Bubbly Mommy Gun, which specializes in “dreamy, off-kilter pop that
is willfully obtuse in its experimentation,” according to the band’s promoter, and Meridian, a
new-wave, synth-pop project from Sean Bos and Brennan Zerbe.
The concert starts at 10 p.m.,
and cover costs $5.
Espresso News is located at 267 Howard St. in downtown Boone. For more
