ASU hosts holiday scholarship concert Dec. 6
The Hayes School of Music’s 20th annual Holiday Scholarship
Concert takes place Friday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts at
Appalachian State University.
Admission is $10. Tickets are available at the Schaefer Center Box Office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or online at http://theschaefercenter.org. Ticket sales support scholarships for students in the Hayes School of Music.
During the past two decades, the performance has opened the holidays with a festive, family-friendly concert, featuring ensembles and orchestras from the music school. Performing this year are the Steely Pan Steel Band, Brass Choir, Flute Ensemble, Gospel Choir, Trumpet Choir, Treble Choir, Blazing Bassoons, University Singers, Brass Quintet, Trombone Choir, Chamber Singers and Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Stephen Hopkins, director of choral activities for the Hayes School of Music, coordinates the concert.
“We’re looking forward to presenting our 20th Holiday Scholarship Concert in the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts,” he said. “With the improved acoustics and aesthetics, it will be a genuine pleasure to share our performances.”
