A Doc Documentary
After the death of Doc Watson last May, many people wondered if
there were unreleased recordings of his music that might be released posthumously.
Watson’s daughter, Nancy Watson, has spent much of her time during the past year combing through family recordings of Doc and others playing music and telling stories. Those family recordings have been edited, cleaned up with sound-enhancing software and will be the basis of a four-CD set of music to be released later this year.
A short documentary film about Nancy and the CD project will be shown at MerleFest this weekend. The documentary is titled “Milestones: Legends of the Doc Watson Clan” and is produced by Roy Andrade.
The documentary will be shown at the Watson Stage (main stage) area of MerleFest at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, prior to the performance of Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, prior to the performance by Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, prior to the performance by Jerry Douglas, and at 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, prior to the performance of The Kruger Brothers.
