Strictly
Clean and Decent, Harris Bros. play Mountain Home Music Saturday
The closer retirement came for Patrick Crouch, the further
it seemed to move away.
He loved to teach his band students at Granite Falls Middle School,
but he also wanted more time to play his own music, he wanted
more time for his recording studio, and he wanted more for travel
and more time to spend with friends.
Strictly Clean and Decent
Snow this winter and spring pushed back the last day of school
in Caldwell County to mid-June, so retirement for Crouch was pushed
back according. Weeks, he said, felt like months.
After 30 years of teaching, Crouch retired last week.
One of his first stops as a retired man will be to play music
on Mountain Home Music.
Crouch is part of a musical trio called Strictly Clean and Decent. For
many years, they have been a part of the local and regional music
scene. Crouch, Kay Crouch and Ron Shuffler played country music
at Shadracks, a former barbecue barn and dance hall in Boone;
they played songs made popular in O Brother Where Art Thou?,
several times for Blowing Rocks Winterfest, and they have
been regulars on Mountain Home Music for 16 years, where theyve
played their full repertoire of bluegrass, Celtic music, and Broadway
show tunes.
Strictly Clean and Decent also started a musicians showcase for
Caldwell County Musicians, and they have traveled throughout North
Carolina through the North Carolina Visiting Artists Program. This
Saturday night, June 27, Strictly Clean and Decent will perform
on Mountain Home Music.
The show, Bluegrass and the Blarney Stone, will also feature Reggie
and Ryan Harris, the Harris Brothers, also well known local and
regional musicians.
The Harris Brothers grew up playing music and singing in a musical
family in the Foothills of North Carolina. Reggie and Ryan
play a wide range of music from old time string band music to
blues, country, rock and nearly everything in between. Fans of
the Harris Brothers will attest that each performance is unique
and exciting and theres something everyone will like.
The Harris Brothers grew up in the same community as Patrick and
Kay Crouch and Ron Shuffler. They have been a part of the
same concerts, they know many of the same songs, but rarely have
they performed together. At least to some extent, this will
change this Saturday night on Mountain Home Music. This will
be the Harris Brothers second appearance on Mountain Home
Music.
