Armed Forces Tribute Office Opens

The Armed Forces Tribute office started formal office hours on Tuesday, July 1. They are open from 9 am until 5 pm. Since it is next door to the Chamber, if someone is not at the office, they can pick up the same forms and information from the Chamber. One of last year's banner's is hung in the front window to let everyone know who drives by that they are there!

Betsy Reeves, county Veteran's Officer, has also agreed to have forms at her office for pick up/drop off. The ones the office will benefit are those hundreds of veterans who are not in any of the local organizations (DAV, VFW or American Legion) or who are not receiving benefits, plus the active who are serving now.

A few things are really needed to finish out and make the office fully functional, so if there is anything on the list that you can loan us or know of someone you can approach to help us with by having them donate it, please consider doing so.

Printer/copier/scanner/fax combination (ideally) or each piece of equipment individually, free standing bookcases or shelving, copy paper, both letter and legal size,. magzine-rack type small piece of furniture to put forms in for the lobby, small bulletin board, stackable in/out boxes, stamps for correspondence, cups for coffee and water, perhaps some soft drinks or bottled water, misc office 'stuff', such as note pads, thumb tacks, push pins, white out, rubber bands, a couple of legal/letter pads, old 3-4" notebooks for the biographies, a nice patriotic sign in book for guests that can also be used for the sign in at the Tribute for all the veterans and active military, a nice patriotic scrap book to begin putting everything in to for preserving the event.

Their address is 303-A East 2nd Street, West Jefferson, 28694 and the mailing address remains the same at: Ashe County Armed Forces Tribute Jeffersons Rotary Club Foundation PO Box 1045 Jefferson, NC 28640. Their telephone number (336) 846-1251.
