Children's Endowment needs community help

Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. On Saturday, February 16, 2008, Ashe County Children's Trust Endowment Fund hosted a Valentine Dinner, Dance and Auction to express their love to the children of Ashe County.
Participants enjoyed a romantic evening which included dinner, dancing (to the music of White Chocolate - the Band), and an auction. The Valentine Dinner, Dance and Auction proved to be a sweet success, raising over $20,000.00.

Proceeds from the event go to benefit the Ashe County Children's Trust Endowment Fund. Grants from the Endowment Fund have been awarded to provide parenting education, counseling for children of domestic violence, provide First Aide and CPR training to mentors and their matches, purchase evacuation cribs for infants in a day care setting, pay camp scholarships, and provide physical education programs and equipment.

The Ashe County Children's Trust Endowment is devoted to support Ashe County Partnership for Children and Ashe County 4-H programs. The Endowment Committee strives to build a permanent unrestricted endowment which will provide direct financial resources for programs conducted by the Ashe County 4-H and Ashe County Partnership for Children to enrich the quality of life for all children in Ashe County.

Helen Keller once said "the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart". The dance participants, auction donors and dance sponsors may never see or touch the benefits of their gift but the children of Ashe County will feel the love of their generosity. The Ashe County Children's Trust Endowment would like to thank the participants, auction donors and dance sponsors for their continued support. We especially thank Jefferson Landing for their hospitality and support the past six years.

The Children's Trust Endowment is already making plans for the 2009 Valentine Dinner, Dance, and Silent Auction that will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Show your love to the children of Ashe County by making plans to attend this great event!
