Youth chorale forming

Article Published: Dec. 30, 2009 | Modified: Sep. 7, 2011

Registration is still available for the spring semester Appalachian State University Community Music School choral group.

This new chorale group is designed for students in grades 8-12. The purpose of the program is to engage students in a choral experience that will further develop proper vocal technique.

The choir is designed for both male and female singers, who would enjoy having additional opportunities in singing and vocal performance.

Public, private and home-schooled students are invited to participate. Students who have had limited choral experience are welcomed, as well as those who have more experience.

The choir's repertoire features a wide variety of quality music, including folk, sacred, classical and jazz literature.

The group is led by Dr. Pamela Hopton-Jones and meets Wednesdays at Boone United Methodist Church. The fee is $184 per semester. Learn more and register at
