Workshops at Dancing Moon

Article Published: Jun. 10, 2010 | Modified: Sep. 7, 2011

For those interested in spirituality, health, or natural crafts, Dancing Moon Earthway Bookstore in Boone is hosting free Tuesday events.

"What we're trying to do is have a forum and give the community a chance to talk about different topics," Dancing Moon owner Bob Snead said. "Based upon who we are, we like to have spiritual twinge to it. But everybody's perspective of that is different, too."

The Tuesday talks are held from 6 to 7 p.m. and are open to anyone. Snead is also looking for people to speak on various topics.

"If you're a practitioner in the community, it's a good way to get your name out, and it is a good way to give back to the community and for everybody to get involved," Snead said. "The plan is to keep on throughout the summer."

The upcoming schedule includes:

June 8 - What is spirituality? with Bob Snead

June 15 - Medical doctor's take on why meditate, with Dr. Susan Murphey

June 22 - Raw Foods, from Hold the Heat Raw Foods Makery

June 29 - Beading Jewelry Design with Amantha

Guided Meditation is held Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m., with heart-based meditation every first and third Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Simple meditation for peace, health & spiritual growth begins June 3, with donations accepted.

On June 4, the First Friday Openhouse held from 5 to 7 p.m. features Chaitanya Kirtan Group and their yoga of sound. Rene Johnson will offer Puppicasos!, color-splashed prints painted by the puppies to benefit the non-profit Lucky Puppy Foster Home, a safe house for homeless pregnant dogs and orphaned puppies.
